The Essence of Faith and Paradigm Change: Catholicity and the Wisdom of the East

Abstract

This paper undertakes research into catholicity and paradigm changes in the history of theology, at the same time highlights the tension and balance between historicity and universality.

The paper consists of three parts: Catholicity and the essence of faith; catholicity and the change of paradigms; catholicity and wisdom from the east. It is also an attempt on the renewal of theology, integrating elements of the Eastern Church (being as communion) and the Buddhist Zen tradition (direct perception).
