Abstract

Products labeled “Made in China” are everywhere. Today, this label indicates the rise of a non-western economic power that has definitely assumed a role in shaping the current world order. This “growth-at-all-costs” has been well motivated by Deng Xiaoping in his famous slogan: “It doesn’t matter if the cat is black or white. All that matters is that it catches mice.” This “getting rich first, clearing up later” mentality, however, carries with it a number of serious problems. It is not only a question of ecological damage, but also that of polluting traditional spiritual values. This paper aims at exploring the dream made in China based on inspiration from the Venerable Gabriele M. Allegra.
